Acquisition of IPPs J916
On April 7th 2004, we spent the whole day acquiring the J916 of the IPP (Institute for Plasma-Physics) in Garching.
First, we all met at 6:30 AM in the Cray-Cyber computer rooms, then we loaded the truck with stuff which should go into the storage rooms because we don't need it in the computer rooms. Afterwards, we had a meeting (yeah!!!) with breakfast at MCDonalds.
Wolfgang had to work so he left us at this point.
At about 10:00 AM, we arrived in Garching, disassembled the J916 and loaded it into the truck. Then we got a tour through the computer rooms of the IPP. At about 11:00 we were ready in Garching and John and Freddy drove to the storage rooms, which are about 250km away. Usually we need about 3 hours when going there by truck, but unfortunately we got into a traffic jam which took us 3 additional hours so we needed 6 hours to get to the rooms. The weather was not that good, so the fork-lift could not get through the mud to the storage rooms. Fortunately we got the opportunety to temporarily put the stuff into another storage room.
We arrived back in the Cray-Cyber rooms at about 11:00 PM.
